Arshak E. Mirzoyan, DMedSc, Professor, trained and worked in Kurgan, Russia,

directly under the supervision of Professor Ilizarov from 1980 to 1989. After devastating

earthquake in 1988 he came with the team of volunteers to Armenia where he

established department of restorative orthopedics in Michaelyan's Surgical Center. In

1993, Dr. Mirzoyan was invited to Portland, OR, USA, where he practiced for two years

as a licensed visiting professor. In 1996-1998 he was invited to Denmark to help to

establish an Ilizarov Center in Aalborg, Denmark.

 

In 2000 Dr. Mirzoyan established Yerevan Center of Limb Lengthening and

Reconstruction –www.legslengthen.com , which is well known as a one of the leading

centers in medical tourism of Armenia. YCLLR has treated patients from more than 20

countries worldwide: USA, Japan, the Great Britain, France, Australia, Georgia, Iran,

Russia, Serbia, China, Syria, Turkey, etc.

 

In the same year he established Armaveni Charitable Foundation –www.armaveni.am.

The foundation implements the Standing Tall Program. A lot of patients of low income

families from Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhkwith various orthopedic problems are

treated free of charge.

In his more than 40 years of practice, he has treated over 5000 patients and authored

over three monographs and over 60 papers in different medical publications worldwide.
